Creating opportunity & cultivating community through relationships.
Waterbrook Hills is dedicated to enhancing social justice and facilitating positive life opportunities and family functioning for persons in challenging circumstances. Grounded in Christian values, we focus on community development, caring relationships, service and outreach. We cooperate to lovingly bring hope and faith to persons in need.
We work to bring resources to people whom we have personally met and interacted with at home and abroad. All programs that we support are individually visited and known by board members’ engagement with programming on site. Our goal is to come along side of excellent programs and to provide ongoing support and development to multiply the fruitfulness of our field partners.

A Journey of Hope, Opportunity & Partnership
This is Our Story

For over 25 years, a group of friends and family members worked together as volunteers in a wide variety of outreach and community development projects that were designed to bring hope to people in challenging circumstances. Many of our early efforts were grounded in short term mission trips to Appalachia, New York, Mexico, Europe, Nepal, Kenya, Uganda, and Togo. Each of these experiences brought a greater appreciation of the broad diversity of life opportunities faced in different contexts. We have seen how a person’s life chances are enhanced and challenged by the social and ecological environments in which they live.
In the fall of 2014, we incorporated Waterbrook Hills to provide structure for supporting charitable efforts designed to facilitate life opportunities of persons in difficult circumstances. Specifically, we work to enhance availability of clean drinking water, to reduce the challenging effects of poverty, to increase social justice, education, and health of individuals in challenging circumstances. In January of 2015 we fully sponsored our first official project, the Pamoja Tailoring Shop in Kwale, Kenya.
We are committed to bringing positive life opportunities to others through partnering with excellent programs and field partners we have personally visited and gotten to know. We look forward to continued partnership with you in bringing opportunity, hope and faith to persons in challenging circumstances.

Lindsay Palkovitz
Board of Directors
Lindsay is a co-founder of an NGO in rural Kwale, Kenya that seeks to empower the most vulnerable members of the Digo tribal community through community-led developmental programs. With a background in applied anthropology and an MS in Health Promotion, it was important to Lindsay for these programs to be based on community felt needs and data-driven. To this end, she designed and implemented an IRB-approved research study that assessed the socio-cultural variables influencing adolescents’ behavioral health choices. The data showed that it was not a lack of knowledge but a lack of resources and, hence, autonomy that correlated with risky health behaviors, especially among females. Therefore, the programs she was most instrumental in designing aimed to empower and equip young females to be financially independent through microfinance loans, vocational training, and childcare. Currently, Lindsay lives in Topanga Canyon, CA with her family and is studying plant medicine in an herbalism program at the Ojai School of Herbal Studies. She hopes to use her herbalism knowledge and skills to provide access to health and well-being to all people regardless of socio-economic status.
